Empowering Families Through Housing
From Dream to Reality: A Family Finds Their Forever Home in Twin Towers
After years of renting and saving, the Smith family has finally achieved what once felt out of reach—homeownership. Thanks to the EDNDC, their dream came true in the heart of the Twin Towers neighborhood.
Earlier this year, the Smiths purchased a charming three-bedroom, 1540 square-foot home. Built in 2013 as part of the Twin Towers Crossing I housing project, the home is one of several constructed with support from the City of Dayton through the Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP).
“We never thought we’d be able to afford a home like this,” said Mrs. Smith.
Twin Towers Crossing I was developed to create high-quality, affordable housing while revitalizing the (unofficial) historic Twin Towers area. Funded through the NSP, the project focused on stabilizing the neighborhood by transforming vacant lots into vibrant homes and offering pathways to ownership for working families.
For EDNDC, the Smith’s story is exactly what the organization was founded to make possible.
“This is more than just a real estate transaction,” said EDNDC Executive Director Jan Lepore-Jentleson. “It’s about building community, empowering families, and helping people plant roots where they can thrive. Seeing families like the Smiths move in is the ultimate reward.”
“This home means everything to us,” said Mr. Smith. “It’s stability. It’s pride. It’s our future.
